Attorney Karen Velez is a skilled litigator with over fifteen years of legal and courtroom experience.  Karen began her legal career representing poor (Spanish speaking) clients while an attorney with the Public Defender’s Office.  For over a decade Karen was assigned to serious cases involving complex legal issues.  She handled major crimes cases and fought on behalf of her clients that were charged with homicides, economic crimes, sex offenses, trafficking, firearms offenses including 10/20/life and other felony charges.

Karen is passionate about giving back to the local community.  She serves on the Board of Directors of Dress for Success Palm Beaches, where she currently serves as board secretary, co-chair of the “Shop for Success” fundraiser and is a member of the Development Committee.  Dress for Success is a nonprofit that provides women in our community the tools needed to obtain employment and break the cycle of poverty.  While serving on the Board of Directors Karen has volunteered countless hours to grow and support the nonprofit and help women in the community.

Recently, Karen had the honor of being nominated and made the finals for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, “Esperanza” Award.  Esperanza means hope in Spanish.  The Esperanza Awards recognize and honor Hispanic businesswomen with exceptional achievement in business and in the public or private sectors in Palm Beach County.
